Mark Thomas
Lived experience mental health speaker, Sergeant at Victoria Police, Co-Founder and President of The Code 9 Foundation

Mark Thomas is a serving Victorian Police member with 30 years of distinguished service, a mental health keynote speaker, and founder of The Code 9 Foundation, an Australian health promotion charity supporting first responders living with PTSD, depression, anxiety, and other service-related mental health conditions.

After being diagnosed with PTSD, depression and anxiety in 2013, Mark’s mental health journey is one of resilience, courage and transformation. Mark turned his personal pain into purpose. He openly shares his story of not wanting to live to where he is today, living a meaningful life, proving that recovery and thriving after trauma is not only possible but powerful.

As the co-founder of The Code 9 Foundation, Mark has built a vital support network for his community and their families. Through the foundation, he champions prevention, early intervention, and long-term recovery programs, while continuing his full-time policing career.

A compelling and authentic speaker, Mark speaks with raw honesty, practical insights, and hope, helping people understand the recovery process, what worked for Mark and what he does to keep his recovery moving forward.

A passionate advocate for teacher wellbeing and sustainable careers in Education, Sue works with teachers and school leaders to develop wellbeing culture— where people can perform at their best without sacrificing themselves in the process. Her workshops blend research, relatable stories and practical strategies that participants can use to rethink unhelpful habits, establish healthy routines and make intentional changes to the way they work, lead, and live.
